Excel & Data

Pull columns from a second spreadsheet into your Excel or CSV file

Upload the file you want to enrich and a lookup table, match rows by key columns, choose which columns to return, and download a workbook with those values filled in—plus not-found and ambiguous-key sheets.

Drop spreadsheet files here, or add them from your device.

Excel (.xlsx) or CSV. Up to 15 MB each. Add two files. The first is the list to enrich. The second is the lookup table.

What this tool does

It performs a VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP-style join: every row from your first file is kept, and selected columns from the second file are added when the key columns match. You can set a value for keys with no match. Duplicate keys in the lookup table are flagged as ambiguous.

How to use it

  1. Upload two Excel or CSV files (first file is the list to enrich, second is the lookup table).
  2. Select the sheet in each file.
  3. Choose key columns to match rows, then choose which columns to copy from the lookup table.
  4. Optionally set a value for keys with no match, run the lookup, and download the workbook.

Example uses

  • Add product names and categories to a sales export using a SKU lookup table.
  • Attach department codes from an HR reference file to a timesheet extract.
  • Fill in missing region names on a customer list from a territory mapping sheet.

Supported files & limits

  • Excel (.xlsx) or CSV for each file.
  • Up to 15 MB per file.
  • Two files required.

What you get

An Excel workbook with a Lookup sheet (every row from the first file plus the selected columns from the second file on matching keys), a Summary with matched / not found / ambiguous counts, and separate Not found and Ambiguous sheets listing rows from the first file.

Important limitations

  • Matching uses the key columns you select; when headers differ, pick the same number of key columns in each file.
  • If a key is missing from the lookup table, return columns use your optional “value if not found” or stay empty.
  • If the lookup table has duplicate keys for a value, those rows are marked ambiguous (empty return values on the Lookup sheet and listed on Ambiguous). This covers a VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP-style enrich task, not every Excel lookup option.

Frequently asked questions

Which file is the lookup table?
The second file is the lookup table. The first file is the list you want to enrich; its rows are preserved on the Lookup sheet.
What happens when a key is not in the lookup table?
Return columns are empty unless you enter a “value if not found.” Those rows are also listed on the Not found sheet.
How are duplicate keys in the lookup table handled?
If more than one row in the lookup table shares the same key, the match is treated as ambiguous and listed on the Ambiguous sheet with empty return values on the main Lookup sheet.
