Reconcile an expected list against an activated list
Upload an expected Excel or CSV list and an activated list, match rows by key columns, and download a workbook showing missing activations, extras, rows in both lists, and optional field-level changes.
Drop spreadsheet files here, or add them from your device.
Excel (.xlsx) or CSV. Up to 15 MB each. Add two files. The first is the expected list. The second is the activated list.
What this tool does
It cross-checks two lists framed as expected (first file) versus activated (second file). You choose key columns to match records, then see which expected keys are missing from the activated list, which activated keys are extra, which appear in both, and—when field comparison is on—which values differ on matching keys.
How to use it
- Upload the expected list and the activated list (two Excel or CSV files).
- Select the sheet in each file.
- Choose the key columns used to match rows between the lists.
- Turn field comparison on or off, optionally limit which columns to compare, then run reconciliation and download the workbook.
Example uses
- Check whether every policy number on an expected enrollment file appears on the carrier’s activated list.
- Find members marked active in a billing file who are missing from the master roster.
- Spot field mismatches (for example plan code or effective date) on IDs that exist in both lists.
Supported files & limits
- Excel (.xlsx) or CSV for each file.
- Up to 15 MB per file.
- First file is the expected list; second file is the activated list.
What you get
An Excel workbook with a summary and sheets for rows present in both lists, missing from the activated list, extra in the activated list, changed rows (when field comparison applies), and ambiguous keys.
Important limitations
- Results depend on the key columns you select.
- Optional field comparison compares values on matching keys when you enable it and choose fields to compare; leave fields unchecked to compare every matching column.
- This reconciliation is framed around an expected list versus an activated list—not a general added/removed/changed diff. Use Compare Excel Files for that style of comparison.
Frequently asked questions
- Which file is “expected” and which is “activated”?
- The first upload is treated as the expected list; the second is the activated list. Missing rows are expected keys not found in the activated file; extra rows are activated keys not in the expected file.
- When should I turn on field comparison?
- Turn it on when you need to see value differences on matching keys (for example status or amount). Turn it off when you only care whether keys are missing or extra.
- How is this different from Compare Excel Files?
- Reconciliation uses expected versus activated wording and supports optional field comparison on matching keys. Compare Excel Files reports added, deleted, changed, and unchanged rows between two files without that expected/activated framing.
