One text-based PDF with tables. Up to 100 pages and 50 MB.
What this tool does
It reads selectable text in a PDF, detects tabular regions page by page, and writes each detected table to its own worksheet in an Excel workbook. After extraction, you see a per-sheet summary with row counts, column counts, and source page numbers.
How to use it
- Upload a PDF.
- Confirm the page count loads, then click Extract tables.
- Review the extraction summary when processing finishes.
- Download the Excel workbook.
Example uses
- Turn a financial statement PDF with embedded tables into a spreadsheet for analysis.
- Copy tabular sections from a vendor price list PDF into Excel for filtering.
- Move report tables from a text-based PDF export into a workbook before comparing with Compare Excel Files.
Supported files & limits
- One text-based PDF with tables.
- Up to 100 pages.
- Up to 50 MB.
What you get
An editable Excel (.xlsx) workbook. Each detected table is written to its own worksheet (named from the extraction). After extraction, the result lists each sheet with row and column counts and source pages.
Important limitations
- Works with text-based PDFs. Scanned or image-only PDFs are not OCR-processed.
- Table detection may miss tables or mark extraction as partial or ambiguous; irregular tables may need manual review.
- Not every PDF layout will extract perfectly—complex or non-tabular pages may produce incomplete results.
Frequently asked questions
- Will this work on scanned PDFs?
- No. The tool uses selectable text in the PDF. Image-only or scanned pages without a text layer are not OCR-processed.
- What if no table is detected?
- The job fails with a no-table-detected message and no result workbook is produced.
- What should I do after extracting tables?
- You can open the workbook in Excel or upload exports to Compare Excel Files or Cross-check / Reconciliation if you need to diff them against another list.
